System Engineer (m/f) - Linux

Responsible for Management of the Linux server farm in the team of system engineers

Responsible for managing all database technologies (MongoDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Solr, Redis)

Analysis of system requirements and identification of continuous optimization potentials

Managing several global hosting partners and CDN networks

Planning and technology evaluation for further scaling and improving of the platform

Strongly focus on automation and virtualization technologies

Working close with DevOps, QA and developer teams

Monitoring of the systems and applications

Analysis of system messages and log files, keep close loop with the developer teams

Managing server and database backups

Close working with latest technologies: Ansible, Proxmox, AWS, Ubuntu LTS, Nginx, JVM, Tomcat, Apache, Nomad, Consul, Docker, MongoDB, MySQL, ElasticSearch

Completed degree in (business) computer science or a comparable training with background

At least 5 years work experience in a similar environment

Relevant experience in the administration of complex server and database environments

Experience in operating, monitoring and provisioning a 24x7 online platform and on IT data security processes and technologies

Strong skills of Linux & Network troubleshooting with tools such as strace, tcpdump, perf-tools and others

Good comprehension of microservices architecture

Orientation for infrastructure as a code approach

Good knowledge of popular Linux distributions (Ubuntu, Debian etc.)

Experience in server automation (Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes or similar)

Deep knowledge of network routing and firewall (iptables)

Experience in system script languages (Bash, Python, Awk, Sed)

Solution-, team- and results-oriented way of thinking and working

Fundamental knowledge of popular databases (MongoDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Solr, Redis)
