Description of the job   A vacancy for a Senior System Engineer (m/f) for Galileo Navigation Payload has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space in Ottobrunn.   The successful applicant will join “Navigation”.   Tasks & accountabilities   The Senior System Engineer (m/f) for Galileo Navigation Payload will work in the Galileo 2nd Generation Space Segment team thereby managing and coordinating the payload design, development, and verification process during phases B/C/D.   Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:   o Payload System Engineering Coordinating Payload activities and the Platform–Payload interface Maintain payload documentation Supporting project reviews (PDR, CDR, etc.) Supporting a flexible PL AIT concept definition satisfying reducing time to market needs Contributing to new ideas (out of the box) related to payload architecture aspects Definition of PL equipment specification   o Support the evolution of the Galileo system with respect to payload requirements. Technical review and follow up of G2G payload activities Contribution to the DDV process Contribution to definition of the payload security perimeter   o Support Galileo system engineering activities related to SIS engineering, for instance maintenance of SISICD requirements in DOORS maintenance of verification control documentation   o Contribution to system operability improvements and life cycle cost estimation and reduction o Support to definition of a Navigation payload product o Contribution to the Galileo integration, testing and verification activities within the Galileo ground and space segment and between Space to Ground with focus on payload functionality and performance o Support to provision of studies and proposals o Presentation of the achieved results to customers, industrial partners, technical meetings, symposia and conferences   This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company’s success, reputation and sustainable growth. Skills   We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:   o University degree in Navigation, Electrical Engineering, Communication Techniques, Telecommunications, Signal Processing, Physics or equivalent o Long term and proven experience in payload design and AIT processes (Phase B/C/D/E) demonstrated ideally in Galileo or related space projects o Well skilled and experience in understanding system engineering processes with elaboration of requirements, their traceability and justification; understanding of review gates o Good theoretical and practical knowledge of satellite-based Navigation Systems (GPS, Galileo, EGNOS, GLONASS) and satellite navigation (navigation signals, signal and receiver performance) o Understanding of safety of life requirements driving Payload design o Understanding of End To End Data dissemination and data flows o Understanding of new market sectors using PVT solutions (e.g. IoT; autonomous driving, flying, swarm intelligence) o Demonstrated ability to analyse complex technical problems and define innovative solutions o Well skilled and experience in rapid and clean engineering software generation and usage o (MATLAB and/or C/C++) o Capability to work in an European/international team and with European/international customers (e.g. ESA, EC) on European/international projects o Flexibility to work in in different European locations with our partners o Negotiation level in English Contact   Please apply online for this vacancy at our careers site ( ) with your CV attached.   By submitting your CV or application you are consenting to Airbus Group using and storing information about you for monitoring purposes relating to your application or future employment.
