This technology foundation will help GSA to leverage technology as a game changer and enabler for businesses in the digital age and boost our own transformation capacity.   Project manager is responsible for delivering IT projects to schedule, budget and quality. The role requires excellent technical knowledge of the project management inter-related process stages and the supporting processes. Awareness of and compliance with portfolio management, project management methods and tools and quality assurance is also required. Project manager must have proficient stakeholder relationship management skills to successfully lead and manage the project team and project stakeholders.   Your tasks - to help you progress

Successfully execute the project to agreed schedule, budget and scope

Plan the project based on a defined need - results in detailed scope/budget/schedule baseline

Monitor and control the work to ensure that the project remains on track and in control

Plan for and manage change

Interface and communicate with project team, management and stakeholders

Delivery of projects aligned to overall business and technology strategies and architectures

Work within defined governance processes

Support development of business cases with the customer team including leading on the solutions estimate

Develop objectives, phasing and content of the project to deliver on the business case benefits, budget and timescales

Act independently to deliver project to schedule, budget and scope; support provided as required and requested

Lead project teams consisting of cross functional, global, and virtual groups; directly supervises staff; assigns responsibility to members; monitors progress

Monitor and manage project baseline to ensure activities are occurring as planned - scope, budget and schedule

Proactively identify risks and issues on projects - leading team to develop risk management and issues management plans

Anticipate problems before they occur; defines the problem or risk; identifies possible causes; work with team to identify solutions; select and implement most appropriate solution

A degree in Computer Science or a related discipline; or equivalent work experience

Ideally at least 5 to 10 years job experience in a corporate IT environment

Ideally at least 3 to 5 years' experience in project management or related technical field (application development, deployment/implementation and infrastructure)

Work experience in a professional services industry, preferred

Experience of managing IT projects with personal accountability for delivering to time and cost for projects typically up to $200k in value and 6 months in duration

Knowledge of project management methodology, tools and templates (includes project planning, schedule development, scope management and cost management)

Track record of customer focus, based on openness, trust, and delivering on promises

Experience across packaged and bespoke systems and infrastructure, ideally on an international basis

Management skills to manage a number of projects simultaneously

IT background with experience across the systems development life cycle with experience in all project phases - plan, initiate, elaborate, design, build, test, implement.

Knowledge and use of industry-standard project methods, tools and techniques e.g. RAIDS, budget, communication

Analytical skills and problem solving skills needed to manage multiple factors on a project simultaneously

Excellent written and verbal communication skills - must be able to communicate fluently in German and English both verbally and in writing

National and international travel may be required
