As a member of a globally distributed team, the Microsoft Systems and Virtualization Engineer is responsible for managing and supporting Tenneco’s global Windows Server and VMWARE based infrastructure both in the datacenter and on remote sites. Responsibilities include the support of hardware, operating system, virtualization and infrastructure applications like Active Directory as well as the design and implementation of new infrastructure solutions. The engineer is working together closely with other team members in the US, Germany and China.
Major technologies supported by the team include Microsoft technologies like Active Directory, SCCM, Office365 and Azure, virtualization technologies like VMWARE, Hyper-V and Citrix as well as backup systems and server hardware. The environment continues to change and develop with the addition of new technologies.
You are providing Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for Windows servers (physical/virtual) and VMWARE
Installing and configuring Windows servers (physical/virtual) and VMWARE solutions
You are managing standalone Hyper-V instances
You will troubleshoot systems, network and application problems
You are performing operational tasks and troubleshooting issues in Active Directory and in Office365/Azure
You are using scripting to automate processes
You will provide backup support for Windows servers
You are designing infrastructure solutions for the introduction of new technologies, additionally you will participate in infrastructure projects
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field or a combination of education and work experience.
At least 3 years of experience in managing 500+ Windows servers (versions 2008 and higher)
At least 3 years of experience in managing 50+ VMWARE servers through VCenter
Working knowledge of Office 365/Azure
Extensive technical knowledge in supported Microsoft technologies and VMWARE
Knowledge of Microsoft SCCM administration a plus
Fluent in English, German language skills are beneficial
