As data is the foundation of everything we do, we are hiring a Manager Big Data Analytics for our Advanced Analytics & Data Science department to continue our success story. We are looking for a smart mind with a hands-on attitude to join a strong team within a fantastic company in a prospering industry, with the following responsibilities: - Team up with business units across the company as a sparring partner to identify high-impact opportunities by leveraging our extensive data assets. - Design and develop innovative big data solutions for QIAGEN in collaboration with business, data science and data engineering teams. Take ownership of your developed solutions and continuously optimize them. - Innovate data processes with design and development of algorithms, data flow, and monitoring solutions. - Support architecture and design activities for the QIAGEN data lake. - Function as a subject matter expert in your area of expertise and help us foster a data-driven culture.
Master degree in computer science, physics, mathematics, or natural science; PhD is a plus.
Minimum 5 years of related experience in a data engineering or advanced analytics/ data science environment.
Experience with infrastructure and data processing pipelines in the cloud, ideally MS Azure.
Experience with data mining / machine learning.
Solid conceptual knowledge of distributed and non-distributed data processes.
High confidence in handling structured and unstructured data.
Solid technical skills, e.g. (1) Data lake technologies: Data ingestion (e.g. NiFi), data storage (Blob storage, HDFS), process orchestration (e.g. Camunda), data processing (Spark, Hive, Pig), streaming (Kafka, Storm) (2) Programming languages: Python, Scala, R, (3) Databases: SQL, noSQL.
High motivation to work with state-of-the-art technologies and interest to stay up-to-date.
Capacity to develop a clear understanding of the business needs and translate them into relevant data queries to inform strategy and decision making.
Entrepreneurial mind-set, good sense of humour and strong personality.
Motivation to “get things done”.
Fluent in English; German language skill is a plus.
