Data Governance and Master Data


Review the Data Strategy implementation process, as well as data related risks and issues comprehensively

Drive Data Management, Master Data Concepts and data lifecycle management

Lead the process of building a complete and standardized reference and master data architecture

Analyze the current state master and reference data architecture and documentation of gaps. Develop models to assess of third party data for completeness and accuracy

Manage Critical Data Element, coordinate data flow processes and Data Lineage

Advise on the remediation of gaps in the master and reference data architecture


Be accountable for the documentation of required attributes for data domains to support a robust and successful deployment of a Master and Reference Data Management platform

Data Model and Data Warehouse (DW) tasks in collaboration with the Architect


Define the DW standards to ensure data integrity as well as the consistency model for the data storage and retrieval

Provide a DW layer concept, the naming conventions and versioning control mechanism in alignment with all related teams

Design of the local data models and data flows of the German DW solution in alignment with the global definitions and processes

Workout the functional and technical specification of the related interfaces (API)

Define the Governance Model for the ongoing operations (RUN the show)

Develop a concept and drive the implementation of solutions to fulfil legal requirements and Barclaycard Standard & Guidelines



Bachelors degree and/or equivalent work experience, MBA preferred

5+ years of experience leading operational teams

3+ years of data management and/or controls governance

Ability to plan and manage at the strategic and operational levels

Excellent interpersonal skills, especially with executive level customers and partner, as well as, internal and external contacts

Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external constituents

Superior presentation skills

Highly motivated, energetic, extremely personable, comfortable working closely with executive management

Exceptional leadership skills in developing strategy, hiring, retaining and developing top talent and effectively dealing with performance issues  


Routine Skills


Deep hands on experience with data architecture, sourcing and management

Strong leadership skills to manage onside and remote teams and team members that are only project related

The ability to influence continuous improvement of applications and infrastructure

Provide thought leadership and best practices required to deliver effective data management solutions  


Functional Skills


Experience with banking and credit card subject areas (credit risk, operational risk, etc.)

Knowledge of the regulatory landscape (GDPR, CCAR, IFRS9, BCBS239 etc.)


Technical Skills


Expertise in all aspects of data architecture design, including Master and Reference data platforms, principles and standards

Strong Data Warehouse skills (SAS BI platform, Hadoop platform preferred)

Strong knowledge of data management tools (Data Stage, Informatica, Abinitio, etc.)

Experience with data modelling, mapping and profiling tools (e.g. ER/Studio, Erwin)

Knowledge of reference data or master data toolset (e.g. Collibra)

Good understanding knowledge of or exposure to the Bank’s key systems e.g. Customer System, Bancos, Vision+, APS, Debt Manager, Praxis
