An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the R² Data Labs Innovation Cell for Business Aviation as a Data Engineer.
As a Data Engineer, you will develop innovative, reliable, and quality data solutions within the Business Aviation organisation. You will also be responsible to help design, develop, test, and maintain data pipelines which leverage advancements in cloud-based technology and the explosive growth in the volume and sources of data. This is a game changer, both for Business Aviation and globally for Rolls-Royce, as our team engages to strengthen our own operations, extracting more intelligence and revealing valuable insights that previously remained hidden. We are creating a major step-change in the capability of our data-enabled services to deliver value to our internal and external customers.

Build large-scale batch and real-time data pipelines with data processing frameworks like Hadoop, Storm, Spark, Elasticsearch and Cassandra.
Leverage best practices in continuous integration, deployment and delivery.
Help drive optimization, testing and tooling to improve data quality.
Collaborate with other data scientists, mechanical engineers and stakeholders, taking learning and leadership opportunities that will arise every single day.
Work in cross functional agile teams to continuously experiment, iterate and deliver on new product objectives.
Degree level education in Computer Science, Mathematics or engineering discipline or equivalent experience, with proven capability in software or date engineering role.
Experience working with high volume heterogeneous data, preferably with distributed systems such as Hadoop, Spark and Cassandra.
Knowledgeable about data modelling, data access, and data storage techniques.
Experience of working in agile software process, data-driven development, reliability, and responsible experimentation.
Proficient in Python and one of the JVM based language such as Java or Scala.
Preferably experience of one or more of the Rolls-Royce markets, civil aerospace, defence aerospace, marine, nuclear or power systems.
Fluency in English written and spoken, knowledge in German would be of advantage.
